According to a survey released by Real Estate Witch on Monday, the best place in the U.S. for cannabis is Portland, Oregon, and the worst is Birmingham, Alabama. Richmond, Virginia, was last on the list of places where adults can legally use cannabis. Virginia Beach and Washington, D.C., were next.
Portland got the top spot in part because it has low prices for weed. An ounce of “high quality” cannabis in Portland costs about $210, which is about $106 less than the national average ($316). The poll found that in D.C., an ounce of high-quality cannabis costs $590, which is 87% more than the average price in the rest of the country.
Portland also had the second most shops per 100,000 people, with 13.7. This is almost four and a half times the national average of 3.1, which is also in Portland. With 48.7 stores for every 100,000 people who lived there, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, had the most.
The study found that the 10 best U.S. cities for cannabis are:
- Portland, Oregon
- Denver, Colorado
- Buffalo, New York
- Seattle, Washington
- Baltimore, Maryland
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Sacramento, California
- San Diego, California
- Los Angeles, California
- San Francisco, California
The survey found that the five worst places in the U.S. for cannabis are:
- Birmingham, Alabama
- Memphis, Tennessee
- Louisville, Kentucky
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- Indianapolis, Indiana
- Nashville, Tennessee
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- Houston, Texas
- Atlanta, Georgia
- San Antonio, Texas
The study looked at a number of factors, such as whether or not cannabis is legal, how much it costs, and how many dispensaries there are.
