Voters in the key presidential battleground states of Nevada and Arizona overwhelmingly favor cannabis legalization, according to recent polls conducted by The Tarrance Group and reported by Marijuana Moment. In Nevada, 85% of respondents supported medical cannabis, 71% backed adult-use reforms, and 80% favored banking access for the cannabis industry. Only 22% believed cannabis should remain a Schedule I substance under federal law.
Arizona voters showed similar sentiments, with 86% supporting medical cannabis, 69% endorsing adult-use legalization, and 78% backing cannabis banking reforms. Just 19% believed cannabis should remain a Schedule I drug.
The polls, commissioned by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, mirror previous polling in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, which also revealed strong support for cannabis reforms.
Brian Herrington, Vice President of External Affairs for Scotts Miracle-Gro, noted that these key voter groups strongly support common-sense marijuana laws, which will play a significant role in the upcoming presidential election. NORML Deputy Director Paul Armentano echoed this sentiment, stating that politicians ignoring their constituents’ stance on cannabis reform do so at their own political risk.
With both major presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, having addressed cannabis policy, this issue is expected to be a key talking point leading up to the November election.
