Minnesota’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) has submitted its final draft of regulations for the state’s adult-use cannabis industry. If approved by an administrative law judge, cannabis licenses could be awarded within weeks, marking a major step toward the market’s official launch.
“These rules lay the foundation to ensure Minnesotans can have confidence in a safe, well-regulated cannabis market,” said OCM Interim Director Eric Taubel.
The state has faced setbacks, including the cancellation of its cannabis social equity license lottery due to lawsuits and the resignation of former OCM Director Charline Briner in January. Despite these challenges, Minnesota is positioned as one of six states expected to drive 75% of U.S. cannabis sales growth over the next three years, according to a recent report.
If the regulations receive approval, businesses will be able to finalize their licensing and begin operations, bringing Minnesota closer to establishing its legal cannabis market.
