Last month, Fairfield, California, law enforcement and the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) conducted a major operation that uncovered three indoor illegal cannabis grows. The operation, involving Fairfield’s Special Operations Team, Code Enforcement Unit, and Patrol, led to the discovery of 2,624 illegally grown plants.
Fairfield Police Department reported that fines totaling $1,313,000 were issued for violations including illegal construction, health and safety breaches, and unlicensed cannabis possession. The operation also revealed hazardous conditions such as exposed electrical wiring and the presence of CO2 tanks and unknown chemicals.
In a separate effort, California state authorities eradicated thousands of pounds of illegal cannabis from state parks. Operations near Saddleback Butte State Park and Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park led to the destruction of 3,684 and 1,572 plants, respectively. The enforcement actions, involving multiple state and federal agencies, also resulted in the seizure of illegal firearms, including ghost guns and assault weapons.
The Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce (UCETF) has made significant strides this year, seizing over $120 million in illegal cannabis products and eradicating more than 122,000 illegal plants. These operations highlight the ongoing efforts to combat illegal cannabis cultivation and ensure regulatory compliance across California.
