Edible Brands, the company best known for its creative fruit arrangements under the Edible Arrangements brand, is making its move into the cannabis market. The company announced on Thursday that it is launching a new delivery service for hemp products, including gummies, drinks, and supplements, under the platform Edibles.com.
Thomas Winstanley, executive vice president of Edibles.com, expressed the company’s excitement, saying, “Edible Brands’ wellness-driven approach aligns with the evolving future of this category. With our robust infrastructure and nationwide footprint, we are uniquely positioned to accelerate industry growth.”
The move comes as the hemp industry, which gained momentum after the 2018 Farm Bill federally legalized hemp, continues to evolve. Despite challenges, such as increasing regulation and state-level restrictions on hemp-derived products, Edible Brands believes there is significant potential for growth.
Currently, Edibles.com is expanding its operations in Texas, with plans to grow into Florida and Georgia. However, the service won’t be available in California, where hemp products with THC traces have recently been banned by the state. The company also noted that certain products would be available for nationwide shipping, depending on state laws.
CEO of Edible Brands, Somia Farid Silber, emphasized the company’s commitment to overcoming challenges in the hemp space: “Consumers still face challenges with perception, education, and accessibility. We’re making it easier than ever for consumers to access premium, vetted products with the convenience they expect today.”
Additionally, Edible Brands is preparing to disrupt the brick-and-mortar retail market by launching a limited franchising program, beginning with a flagship store in Atlanta. Through this initiative, the company aims to democratize access to the cannabis industry, particularly as regulatory barriers have historically restricted growth.
Jake Bullock, CEO of Cann—a cannabis drink company that will be featured on Edibles.com—described the development as a “defining moment” for the hemp industry, noting that a high-quality marketplace like Edibles.com has the potential to reshape the future of THC products and fuel long-term industry growth.
This announcement follows DoorDash’s recent move to expand its offerings to include hemp-derived THC and CBD products in select states, signaling a growing trend in the cannabis delivery space.
