A recent analysis by Spotlight PA reveals that 26 companies spent over $1.6 million on lobbying efforts for cannabis reforms in Pennsylvania last year. Among the biggest spenders were multistate cannabis companies, with over $800,000 of the total coming from these industry giants.
Trulieve, a prominent player in nine states, allocated more than $210,000 to lobbying in Pennsylvania. Of that amount, $165,000 went to direct communications, while $45,000 was spent on indirect lobbying efforts. The Pennsylvania Cannabis Coalition (PCC) also made significant contributions, spending $171,720 to advocate for “modernization to the medical marijuana program” and to push for adult-use legislation.
Other companies involved in lobbying for cannabis reforms included Cresco Labs, PA Options for Wellness, Inc., and Curaleaf, among others. These efforts are part of a broader push for regulatory change in the state, with numerous companies seeking to influence the ongoing discussions about cannabis policy in Pennsylvania.

In addition to lobbying, several cannabis executives contributed directly to political candidates and lawmakers, including Green Thumb Industries CEO Benjamin Kovler, who donated $45,000 to top state officials.
