Green Rush in Pharm Country: New Jersey’s Transformation to National Medical Marijuana Leader

Home to 14 of the world’s top 20 pharmaceutical companies, New Jersey has become one of the country’s major hubs for the elite “Pharm” country, providing the state with a robust workforce of highly credentialed, scientific professionals. Leveraging this existing community and the 22,000 students per year graduating with degrees in life sciences, New Jersey could rapidly grow to become the largest and most influential medical marijuana market in the country. Undoubtedly, New Jersey is already respected globally for its strength in the bio-pharmaceutical and medical device industries. With a comprehensive list of qualifying ailments, a highly supportive governor and motivated department of health focused on (re)education, the state of NJ’s medical market has the potential to lead the nation on integration of rapidly advancing medical knowledge of cannabis and innovative (and cost effective) delivery mechanisms that improve bio-availability and dosing; all of which can lead to more satisfied patient and health professional experiences as the medical marijuana market evolves.

This session will highlight key business opportunities on the future horizon within the NJ medical marijuana industry, specifically showcasing 3 strategic must-dos in 2020 for budding entrepreneurs. With industry insights from the past history of the state program, current updates to the regulations and significant learnings from across our global M4MM network, I will walk through global strategies that NJ operators, across the business ecosystem, can leverage to succeed in the cannabis industry now and going forward.
