Cannabis Firm Fined $115K in Michigan

The Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency recently fined eight cannabis firms a total of $116,000 for failing to submit required financial reports by the deadline.

Michigan regulators began publishing disciplinary action reports recently to cannabis businesses. The first report includes eight fines totaling $116,000 for failure to submit proper financial reports. No other violations were reported in the first report.

The CRA has fined businesses between $8,000 and $10,000 for each overdue statement, which were each usually more than a month late, according to formal complaints reviewed by MLive. Some had overdue statements for multiple licenses and others were fined for violations related to 2020 statements, the report says.

In July, the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) issued 70 formal complaints against adult-use companies and three against medical licensees. Most complaints were related to unlicensed activity, while others were due to violations of state packaging and labeling requirements, or other regulatory infractions.
