Kentucky has officially entered a new chapter in patient care with the launch of medical cultivation at Armory Kentucky LLC — the state’s first operational Tier II grower, based in Mayfield. This marks the first time medical crops are being grown under Kentucky’s newly enacted program.
Governor Andy Beshear applauded the development, highlighting it as a direct result of accelerated timelines approved earlier this year. “This administration made a commitment to Kentuckians suffering from cancer, PTSD, multiple sclerosis and other eligible conditions, and I am proud we are making progress to deliver safe, affordable access,” Beshear said in a press release.
Originally slated for a later launch, the legislature’s move to fast-track licensing by six months has allowed cultivation and other operations to begin well ahead of schedule.
According to the Governor’s Office, more businesses — including processors and testing labs — are expected to begin operations in the coming weeks. So far, the state has licensed 81 businesses, registered over 400 healthcare providers, and issued more than 17,000 written certifications. Over 11,000 residents have already received their patient cards.
As infrastructure continues to develop, Kentucky patients are finally seeing real progress toward safe and consistent access to the relief they’ve long awaited.
