Even though 11 “responsible officials” have been selected by the Guam government for the island’s new adult-use cannabis market. The Pacific Daily News reports that no businesses have yet submitted applications to become licensed cannabis operators.
According to a report by Ganjapreneur, two such applications were granted by the island’s Cannabis Control Board: Trisha Blas, who will manage Guahannabis LLC, the first cannabis production business on the island, and Eugene Arriola, who will represent The Heights Farm, an applicant for a 2,500 square foot indoor cultivation site. According to the document, Wang-Chieh “Ronald” Su withdrew his third application to open a Herbal World cannabis retail outlet.
In accordance with the provisions of Guam’s 2019 legalization law, cannabis enterprises are not eligible for licenses or permits until a responsible official is approved by the government.
To comply with the law in Guam, a cannabis or cannabis product must first be tested by a government-licensed laboratory before being sold for recreational use.
In October, the board accepted Pacific Analytical Services’ Shintaro Okada’s application to become the industry’s first responsible official.
The nine responsible personnel approved in previous meetings were instructed on the following stages and given the necessary application forms to open a cannabis facility, according to Rev and Tax compliance supervisor Craig Camacho, who spoke to the board on November 17.
